This article reminds me of Erica Jong's bit, I think it was in Fear of Flying, about how she could tell the story of her life by telling the stories of all of the toilets she's used--public and private.
We Americans are a prudish bunch. Damn Puritans.

Men's bathrooms are gross. If there's no line, I'll sometimes sneak in there to avoid the wait for the women's. I don't know if they just don't get cleaned as often or if men just can't aim. . .
That said, there are lots of interesting differences between the men's and the women's rooms -- men's rooms have a lot more writing on the stall walls, for example. And Dwight tells me that there's lots of illegal activities that occur in the men's room -- but I never really see anything going down in the women's.
