slow down in bad weather

Mother. Of. God.

This is news. The first major snowstorm of the season--that which threatens to drop all of 2-4 inches--makes news and calls for driving tips such as the one I plagiarized for this post's title.

Meanwhile, there's at least 2-4 inches already on the ground. How is this the first major snowstorm of the season?

This is why I love the rhetoric of fear.

Okay, but let's all 'fess up:
- We've all driven the car without fully warming it up first, hence nessitating peering through a small area of defrosting windshield.
- We've all failed to allow enough time for snow-clearing and car-warming, forcing us to drive at what would be appropriate speeds in good weather (in aerobil's case, that would be on the speedy side).
- And if you're moi, you've done a complete 360 on a major highway whilst doing the speed limit. Clearly a tad too fast for icy roads.
- Which leads me to believe that in winter, courses should be held in a warm coffee shop (preferably with fireplace) close to my home.

Or on the Internet so you don't even have to step out...

(Not that I have anything to complain about here! "Snow?" What is this "snow" of which you speak?)

It's official. I'm old. I'm afraid to drive in the snow. Ever since last year when I careened of the road in my 4x4 in 1.33 inches of snow. When I finally came to a stop (180 degrees away from my original direction) I could not figure out why the jeep would NOT move forward. I got out and stared in amazement at my tire...over there. Completely free of the axle. WTF?

Only 2 to 4 inches to you is probably alot. Oops did I type that naughty me. Really anytime there is a possibilty of a decent snowfall people should be warned. Elderly are bad enough drivers as well as women in SUVS and minivans those damn white knuckle drivers. So before you pipe off about lil snow let me see you drive in 30 mph gusts behind a semi driving 55 to 65 mph. yeah thats what I thought, you aren't Mario. See ya.
